um hi everybody welcome welcome to the Center for transpal studies I'm loresa Harris the associate director um thanks for coming I am um very pleased to introduce Pia lyen who needs very introduction here um having not only taught here um but she actually received a master of science and visual studies here art at the visual art program in 1999 um after coming to the States from Finland onbre um he has practice stands video performance drawing and something that I like to call social engineering but tonight she'll walk us through three projects in which she uses her body to reenact in a way to learn captured images of of different of different types um in all her work there's this this boundless interest in and and faith in human capacity for learning engagement and change and this can be read not only in the end product but in every stage of the process um her engagement with three MIT undergraduates Caitlyn wheer Jen FIA and J Lee um as part of the undergrad...

great welcome back everybody um this is a part of a pro of the program that I have really been looking forward to uh quite a bit as we've been planning this uh I think it's a really wonderful wonderful opportunity for all of us uh to hear from people who were involved uh in mit's decision to undertake its open courseware project 10 years ago which was a I think a very different uh world than uh the world living in today um as we heard from Tim O'Reilly as we heard from Susan hawkfield there were many influences many other movements uh toward openness on the internet and so uh this doesn't stand on obviously um even within education there were there were other prominent projects that were being launched uh webcast Berkeley was starting up and connections was starting up uh Wikipedia even could be considered an uh open education Resource as well and I and certainly was getting started about that time um but mit's announcement on April 4 2001 is proba...
