And we have Alan Thorne, who's the manager of the Manufacturing Automation Program at Cambridge University, who will be our next speaker. As was mentioned in the beginning of the session, this is the example of a market opportunity that looks like it's going to require a higher level of academic collaboration, and then with our standards organization and so on, to ensure that the aircraft parts industry comes up to meet the kinds of requirements that the OEMs are placing on the industry. STEVE MILES: So we will move right into the first of the technology sessions now, which is focused on the network, the Internet of Things. And our first speaker is Steve Bratt, who is the CEO of the WC3, which is also based here at MIT. STEVEN BRATT: Thanks very much, Steve. It's going to be difficult to follow that wonderful talk by Sanjay. And I only have about 10 minutes to tell you about a lot of cool things that are going on at W3C right now. And so I'm going to be doing it a very light touch, just hopefully going to tweak your interest enough to come and ask more questions, come and talk to the W3C about some of the work we're doing. And the title of the talk is RFID, Things on the Web of Data and Services. And as a slight contrast to an idea of an Internet of Things, it's things on the internet. He is professor and director of the Department of High Technology, Development, and Industrialization at the Ministry of Science and Technology in China, and is one of the lead regulators for RFID. We've heard here throughout two days in many cases from companies looking at how do we integrate RFID? What do we want to do with RFID in our companies?
